A **character creator** (or character builder) lets you design the companion: face, body, clothes, personality, and sometimes voice. A **catalog** app instead starts from public or community characters.
Most products mix both. The question is which one is the homepage.
Why it changes the pick
- If “make her look like this” is the job, use the scored girlfriend ranking (Candy, OurDream, DreamGF).
- If you want a huge library of other people's bots, use character-chat apps (SpicyChat, CrushOn, Character.AI).
- Builders often meter extra looks with tokens. Catalog apps often meter messages.
